Geoff Wirth will host this months meeting at his Possession Point shop. Geoff runs 9 machines off of a 30 HP rotary phase (aka rotophase) converter. He’ll describe his system, the research he has done, and the alternatives.

A good deal of heavier-duty and professional woodworking equipment runs on three phase power. Three phase motors are more efficient, smaller, and less expensive than single phase. There are several methods for converting single to three phases in a small shop

 Bob Johnson has prepared a Power Point presentation on the pros and cons of three phase, the use of static converters, master/slave motors, rotophase converters, solid state inverters, motor- generator sets, as well as wiring, electrical codes and permits, and insurance issues.

Here is the deal. The motor is burned out and new ones cost $750. If you will buy the saw I will replace the motor and reduce the price by the $750 so that your cost is $1650 with the new motor. The cabinet in the photo goes with the saw and is full of blades and accessories. I was down sizing when the motor went out this month. If I can be assured that you will take the saw, and the extension table with its rugged fence and all the blades, I will order the motor and have it ready for you to check out in the shop.

The Oak Harbor Library Art Committee seeks to commission a professional artist or team of artists to create an original work of art for the entranceway to the children’s area inside the library. Funded through a grant from the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation, the deadline for submissions is Friday, April 1, 2011, by 5:00 p.m.
